Okay, what is Megatron's deal? Look, I'm more than willing to be convinced that Megatron is on the straight and narrow. I love me a good redemption story, but this is essientally G1 Megs we are talking about. Clearly Megatron is playing Optimus. He swore the oath, probably worded very carefully, we don't hear it after all, with the intention of preventing a long war of attrition that he couldn't win and preserving his Decepticon, fed and reasonably safe until they could restablish communications with Cybertron. Now I might have just accepted that this show was writing him "different" it's been done with Starscream often enough and the comics do go there. But this show is too well written, little moments mean things, and
that smirk Megatron gives Optimus's back when Optimus makes the comment about Megatron growing to appreciate his leadership style.
Megatron very carefully stating that the Seeker's freedom comprimises "my plans"
That entire situation with Soundwave
The signs are clear. Megatron has long running plans to take out the Autobots and defeat Optimus Prime. This alliance is a temporary inconvenience for him. At least, that is what I would say, if it wern't for Megatron's relationship with Ranger Malto. You see, Malto is the story's hero. The Character who is usually, if not alwasy right, and she trusts Megatron. First, I can't wait to see how that relationship came about. When did this Megatron lose, or at the very least learn to hide his disgust around humans? Second, would a children's show let their hero be that wrong about something that huge? I think yes, and you have to admire that. But then we are going to be faced with the delicious tragady of when Megatron's sudden and inevetable betrayl breaks Ranger Malto's heart. I am convinced that Megatron is playing the long game and fully intends to wrap up his time on Earth with the Autobots defeated, Optimus offline or in chains, and humanity a subjagated people. But hey, I am more than willing to be convinced otherwise. Does anyone have any evidence from in show that Megatron is up to anything other than no good?
